Creating balance by taking care of the details

Yoga therapy provides a personal practice designed for you according to your current health status, life circumstances, age, location on the globe, season, family situation, and more. The primary goal is to empower you to replace existing habits with new ones that relieve pain and deepen your connection to your body, breath and mind. The longer term goal is to support you to get to know yourself and your needs, unencumbered by habit or emotion, so that you can shift your daily practice as needed to maintain a healthy balance.
The practice will benefit anyone grappling with physical, mental and emotional pain and discomfort. Research has proven that yoga therapy is a holistic complementary approach to western medicine for obesity, diabetes, heart disease, cancer and other complex multi-system conditions. In addition it has brought relief to people with asthma, arthritis, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, migraine, insomnia, PCOS, and those struggling with anxiety, depression and addiction issues.
How is this different from a regular yoga class?

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Students are asked to commit to a minimum of four sessions, and to a daily practice (as much as life allows). The first session will be for 60 minutes and includes an intake online before we meet. We will go over that together and you can share any relevant medical documents you have at that time, as well as set any short and longer term goals you might have.
We will then do a few simple assessment movements and observe your breathing and design a practice that meets your needs which may include:
• individually tailored and appropriately sequenced yoga movements (āsana)
• therapeutic ball rolling (tissue release / self massage)
• conscious breathing practices (prāṇāyāma, chanting sounds/mantra-s/prayers)
• diet and lifestyle recommendations
• mindfulness and visualization practices
After your session I will send you a diagram of your suggested practices or an audio/video recording of your practice, plus notes on lifestyle shifts to practice daily as suggested. The effectiveness will shift depending on how diligent the practitioner is in their home practice.
After our first session we will connect 3 more times for 30 minutes, on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to review the practice, modify it so it continues to meet your needs and situation, and to answer any questions that may have come up. Once our 4 sessions are complete, we can explore what continuing our work together might look like. My ultimate long term goal for each student is for them to know themselves well enough that they understand how to modify their daily practice as needed to keep themselves in balance. This will look different for every single individual I meet depending on their goals, commitment to practice, and stage in their journey towards healing.
How much does yoga therapy cost?
Usually a 60 minute intake session = $120 and 30 minute check session = $60 but for the first 20 students who sign up these 4 sessions are PYWC with a sliding scale of $25-$75/session. Proceeds will be donated to the emergency food box program at Black Creek Community Farm
If you would like to sign up, please email niya.bajaj@gmail.com and request the intake form.
